Photos: D.E. Mortimer Showroom Grand Opening

September 23, 2019

Many of Bermuda’s leading professional cleaning firms purchase from D. E. Mortimer & Co Ltd. The company started in 1964 and is now celebrating 55 years in business. The company hosted the opening of their new retail showroom and offices on Harvey Road in Paget on Saturday [Sept 21].

The retail store is open Monday to Friday from 10.00am until 4.00pm, and on Saturdays from 10.00am until 2,00pm. Joining the company on Saturday were members of the Robin Hood Youth Football Teams who held a fundraising car wash and bake sale.

The grand opening saw a steady flow of customers with many seen purchasing hurricane supplies including bottled water, paper products, and cleaning supplies.

Managing Director of the wholesale distributors Kieran Campbell said, “We sell the same professional-grade cleaning materials used by Bermuda’s top cleaning firms, hotels and restaurants to the general public from our brand new office/showroom on Harvey Road in Paget.

“Glass and multi-surface cleaners, floor cleaners, and degreasers are just some of our most popular products. Super-concentrated chemicals and dilution-controlled products are also in demand, where the user wishes to mix the cleaner to the correct dilution.

“Benefits of dilution-controlled systems are less plastic, reusable bottles, less storage space required and availability of Eco products.”

“One of D. E. Mortimer’s biggest lines is laundry detergent. We sell it by the gallon at a significant savings over supermarket prices. Quite a few people stop by our showroom just to pick up this one product.

“But when they see the other great things we have, they usually walk out with much more – and save even more than they would buying from a retailer.

“We are proactive in making sure wherever possible ‘green’ cleaning products are used in Bermuda. We’re able to source more and more nature-friendly products that are effective and affordable. We sell many of these products to the medical field and to restaurants, for example.

Mortimer’s Easy Fresh Air Freshener products meet the “Purchase of Sustainable Cleaning Products and Materials” criteria under the LEED point management system.

“We are also one of the largest providers of paper towels, toilet tissue, and hand soaps on the island – we supply to offices, restaurants, and other commercial operations, including the dispensers.

“All of our Vondrehle paper products are recycled and a by-product of the de-inking / cleaning process is fiber ash, which primarily consists of clay and ash but also contains the inks removed from the waste paper – von Drehle uses tractors to spread the fiber ash out on large tracts of land, plow it into the soil and grow cover crops. This improves the soil texture, its ability to hold moisture, and as the fiber ash breaks down, it provides nutrients to the soil.

“D.E. Mortimer has also recently been appointed the official distributor for Karcher equipment and Alliance Laundry Systems in Bermuda. The Karcher pressure washer is the #1 pressure washer in the world.

“Karcher and Alliance are used locally in the medical field, schools, hotels, restaurants and offices. Plus we have all of the other Karcher equipment available, from vacuums, wet/dry vacs to steam cleaners and floor polishers”.

“Alliance Laundry Systems leads the world in commercial laundry equipment and solutions. Along with our laundry and kitchen supplies from Diversey and American Dish Service, D.E. Mortimer offers the full package, providing Energy Star rated commercial dishmachines.

“D.E. Mortimer also offers Chicken Tenders, Mozzarella Sticks, Frozen Fruits and Vegetables in our frozen section. More information is at www.demortimer.com, follow us on Facebook and Instagram.”
