Serving Police Officer Suspended From Duty

September 24, 2019

A serving police officer was suspended today [Sept 24] in relation to “serious allegations that include unlawful access and sharing of police information.”

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] can confirm that a serving police officer was suspended today in relation to serious allegations that include unlawful access and sharing of police information. This follows the suspension of another police officer for similar behaviour earlier this year.”

Commissioner Corbishley said, “Whilst these situations relate to allegations that may or may not be proved, the fact that suspensions have been actioned reflects both the serious nature of matters alleged as well as the necessity to protect the information we possess.

“The BPS is an organisation whose foundation must be built on professional and operational integrity. Without this, we let down our local communities.

“Whilst such incidents are small in number and not reflective of the vast majority of officers and staff who work for the BPS, there will now follow a thorough investigation and the public will be advised of the outcomes in due course.”
