Co-chair, Necheeka L. Trott, said, “Cultured Pearls is an exceptional event for young ladies as they walked into the room curious but walk out inspired. The breakfast provided an opportunity for the participants to share and express their true feelings in a secure closed environment to better themselves.

“Like the cultured pearl, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Sigma Xi Omega Chapter, strives to assist in the development of young ladies within the Bermudian community in an effort to help them mature into the invaluable women they were created to be.”

The spokesperson said, “The guest speaker for this event was the Youth Ministries Associate Director for Teens of the Atlantic Union Conference Adventist Youth Ministries, Mrs. Simona Mills-Pitcher. Mrs. Mills-Pitcher helped the young ladies identify the process that they are going through to become the pearls they will be.

“During the morning, there was a common trend emphasizing the power of a woman. The students were encouraged to not only identify obstacles and irritants that they are faced with, but to dig deeper and identify the core of what is bothering them so they can correctly address it.”

“After the inspirational message, the young ladies thanked the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Sigma Xi Omega Chapter, for hosting such an informative event by sharing what they learned from the workshop.

“One young lady explained that she feels better equipped to identify and work through any obstacle or irritant that she is faced with. She plans to work through her obstacles until her ‘irritant’ develops her into the smooth, elegant pearl that she will be.”

“The Cultured Pearls event exposed attendees to women leaders from various walks of life in Bermuda. The young ladies were presented with a symbolic Ivy Box survival kit to remind them of the tips discussed during the session on how to work through the things they are faced with in life.”
