Teenager Injured In Stabbing In Sandys Parish

[Updated] A 17-year-old male was injured during an “altercation” between several men in the Cricket Lane, Sandys parish area this evening [Oct 6], the police have confirmed.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 5:15pm Sunday, October 6th police received a report of a stabbing. Details remain limited at this time.

“However, early information indicates that an altercation took place between several men in the Cricket Lane, Sandys parish area – in the vicinity of Somerset Cricket Club.

“Apparently one of the men involved in the altercation was stabbed and transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injury is not believed to be life threatening at this time.

“The scene has been cordoned off and is currently being processed. Witnesses or members of the public with any information are urged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011 as soon as possible.

“Alternatively, anonymous tips can be provided by calling the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477, or by visiting www.crimestoppers.bm.”

Update 7.32pm: The police said, “The individual stabbed in this incident is understood to be a 17-year-old male. It now appears that he was transported from the scene by private car to Port Royal Fire Station and then transported from Port Royal Fire Station via ambulance to hospital. He apparently sustained two stab wounds which are not believed to be life threatening. The investigation continues.”

    Have stabbings become so commonplace in Bermuda that we no longer react? Where are all the comments? I hope that BPS will step up surveillance of the area…up in the wild wild West. SMH.

    There is nothing unusual about a 17 year old being out on a Sunday evening and getting stabbed. Get over yourself.
