Bermuda Match Play Championships Underway

November 29, 2019

The Bermuda Match Play Championships got underway today [Nov 29] at Port Royal Golf Course with the Men’s Championship Division Stroke Play Qualifier.

Despite the challenging sustained 25 knot NW winds with gusts in excess of 40 knots and heavy showers, 14 players endured the conditions, although their scores reflected the brutal conditions under which the event was held.

The defending champion, Jarryd Dillas automatically takes the 1st seed position and wisely elected not to play in the qualifying round. The low rounds of the day were a pair of 80’s by Richard Neame and Fraser Hunt.

The Match Play rounds will begin tomorrow morning at 8.00am and the winners will progress to the next round in the afternoon. The semi-final and final matches will take place on Sunday in order to determine the Bermuda Match Play Champion for 2019.
