Entrepreneurs Invited To ‘Inspire Bermuda’ Event

November 5, 2019

The Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] is inviting visitor industry entrepreneurs to attend this week’s “Inspire Bermuda” event at Fairmont Southampton.

Inspire Bermuda, happening November 8–9, brings together multicultural creatives and entrepreneurs from the United States and Bermuda. It is presented by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation [BEDC] in tandem with Driven Society, an organisation focused on multicultural millennials that will bring several successful executives and founders to participate as guest speakers.

Included are investor John Henry, a partner in Harlem Capital, author-speaker Alex Wolf, and influencer Jonathan Jackson, founder of American media company Blavity.

“Having read the biographies of these entrepreneurs, I was totally inspired by their accomplishments,” said Glenn Jones, the BTA’s Chief Experience Development Officer.

“Entrepreneurialism is a universal language. So even though none of the speakers is specifically in tourism, I’m convinced their stories and teachings can motivate Bermuda’s consistently growing crop of hospitality entrepreneurs.”

The two-day event begins Friday at 6 pm, with a marketplace where attendees can shop visual artists and independent brands from Bermuda and elsewhere.

That will be followed Saturday morning with the Fruition Seminar in which successful US-based entrepreneurs under the age of 35 will take part in a series of moderated conversations designed to inspire others and connect creative communities in New York City and Bermuda. Driven Society has made tickets available to local high-school students to encourage the next generation of innovators.

“I’ve always felt so much creative energy from the great young people I’ve met in Bermuda,” said Dustin Edelhertz, advisor and partner at Driven Society, who has visited the island for nearly a decade.

“This made Bermuda the perfect place to produce an event that can serve as an outlet for young creatives, as well as a launchpad for new ideas. We’re grateful for the hospitality and support we’ve received and we’re looking forward to developing the relationship for many years to come.”

Anyone interested in attending the seminar can register at inspirebermuda.com; the marketplace is free to attend. A list of speaker biographies and special guests is available here.
