City Christmas Tree Lighting On November 29
The 25th annual official lighting of the City Christmas tree will take place at City Hall on Friday, November 29.
A spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton invites parents and grandparents, boys and girls to the 25th annual official lighting of the City Christmas tree taking place at City Hall on Friday, November 29th.
“The event kicks off at 5:30pm with an array of entertainment featuring the Royal Bermuda Regiment Band, DanceSations School of Dance, the Bermuda Jump Rope Federation, Mitchell “Livewires” Trott, musical selections by the Portuguese School of Bermuda, 2019 Bermuda Idol Winner Chelsea McNorton, 2019 Bermuda Teen Idol winner Dakota Tucker and Rakeesha Binns.
“Mayor Gosling will be there to welcome everyone, along with the Town Crier, and will oversee the official countdown to illumination. Qian Dickinson of Bermemes is returning as the Master of Ceremonies for this festive evening and jolly St. Nick is due to make an appearance at some point in the evening before he sets off on his global travels.
Tomorrow’s Voices co-founder and Board Chair Thea Furbert said, “As in previous years, the City has partnered on the event with local charity Tomorrow’s Voices, helping to raise awareness and celebrate those in our community with autism and exceptional abilities.
“Tomorrow’s Voices is honoured to partner with the City of Hamilton for such a fantastic event. The theme “Celebrating those with Autism and Exceptional Abilities in the Community” helps us all to be mindful that our community is made up of a variety of phenomenal people that are valuable in every way.
“Tomorrow’s Voices is proud of the services we provide to those with autism and other developmental disabilities in the community and we are overjoyed that we are able to honour them as a part of the lighting of the tree ceremony.
“We encourage everyone to come out and celebrate this special evening of events with us as well as visit the Tomorrow’s Voices tent where we will be selling snacks, soup, hot chocolate and a number of fun autism related items to raise funds for the charity.”
The spokesperson said, “The City encourages the entire community to come out as the festive season officially gets underway in Hamilton.
“In the case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.”
