The Tree of Lights event will be held on Friday [Nov 23] starting from 5.30pm at City Hall in Hamilton.

A spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton announces that the 24th annual Tree of Lights event will take place at City Hall on Friday, November 23rd, hosted by Town Crier, Ed Christopher. The public are invited to this very festive and free community event as the Acting Mayor of Hamilton illuminates the official Christmas tree of the City.

“The event kicks off at 5:30pm and those in attendance will enjoy entertainment by Olivia Hamilton, choirs from Warwick Academy and Somersfield, DanceSations, the Bermuda Jump Rope Federation, Lloyd Holder and Mitchell “Livewires” Trott. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening is Qian Dickinson of Bermemes.

“This year, the City has partnered on the tree-lighting ceremony with local charity Tomorrow’s Voices, helping to raise awareness and celebrate those in our community with autism and exceptional abilities.”

Charity spokesperson Thea Furbert said, “Tomorrow’s Voices is honoured to partner with the City of Hamilton for such a fantastic event. The theme ‘Celebrating those with Autism and Exceptional Abilities in the Community’ helps us all to be mindful that our community is made up of a variety of phenomenal people that are valuable in every way!

“Tomorrow’s Voices is proud of the services we provide to those with autism and other developmental disabilities and we are ecstatic that we are able to honour this population of people with the Lighting of the Tree Ceremony. We encourage everyone to come out and celebrate this special evening of events with us as well as visit the Tomorrow’s Voices tent where we will be selling snacks, hot chocolate and a number of autism related items to raise funds for the charity.’

“The evening wouldn’t be complete without sighting a certain visitor from the North Pole who will make a brief appearance and then depart in style thanks to the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service. The City encourages the entire community to come out as the festive season officially gets underway in Hamilton.”
