In celebration of the 170th anniversary of the arrival of the first Portuguese immigrants in Bermuda, a series of events have been scheduled for this weekend, including the Portuguese Holiday Community Block Party held last night [Nov 2] on Reid Street.

Sponsored by the Vasco da Gama Club, the evening kicked off at 6.00pm. The event featured the Portuguese School of Bermuda, the Vasco da Gama Folklore Group, In-Motion School of Dance, the Warwick Gombey Troupe, Vision School of Dance and more. The DJ and MC for the evening was DJ Scoobay of Young Guns.

Traditional Portuguese food, such as chouriço sandwiches, pork sandwiches and Portuguese donuts was available for sale, and many local vendors also participated in the event. There was entertainment for the whole family, such as laser tag, fun castles and more.
