Tennis: Mixed Day For Daniel Phillips In Spain

Daniel Phillips continued playing in his first Under 16 tournament as he took to the courts in Spain to compete in the Guillermo Vilas Tennis Academy Trophy.

Phillips, playing in the Boys Singles 16 Main Draw, took on Kane Bonsach Ganley from Spain; the pair battled in a three setter that saw Phillips advance.

Phillips won the first set 6-2, but Ganley took the second set 6-2. Phillips closed out the match by winning the third and final set 6-1.

Phillips then teamed up with Uwe Diehl from Belgium in the Boy’s Doubles 16 Main Draw as they took on the tournament’s number four seeds, Cesar Barranquero and Lluc Mir Anglada from Spain.

Phillips and Diehl fell in straight sets 6-2 and 6-4.
