48-Year-Old Man In Custody After Officer Injured

[Updated] A 48-year-old man has been arrested following an incident in Hamilton today, which saw an officer injured as while she was in the process of issuing a parking ticket, the driver “attempted to drive off and struck the officer resulting in her having to be taken to hospital.”

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service is investigating an incident which resulted in an officer having to be taken to hospital for treatment.

“The incident occurred shortly after three this afternoon on Reid Street outside of Phoenix stores.

“The officer was in the process of issuing a parking ticket to a male driver who reportedly attempted to drive off and struck the officer resulting in her having to be taken to hospital for treatment to injuries sustained during the incident.

“A forty eight year old Sandys parish man has been taken into custody in connection with this incident.

Update 4.55pm: The police said, “The female officer injured as she attempted to ticket a driver on Reid Street in the city of Hamilton earlier this afternoon has been attended to at hospital and discharged.”

    Speaking of Police…accidents..and Sandys….. What is the word on the Officer that was driving the police car involved in the death of a young man earlier this year? That story seems to have dropped off the face of the planet. Inquiring minds would like to know.
