U.S. Consulate Warn Of Dishonest Visa Services

The U.S. Consulate in Bermuda has advised people to be vary of “dishonest visa expeditor service companies,” noting that while there are reputable service providers, there are also “those that take advantage of uninformed customers.”

A spokesperson said, “Members of the public are advised to be on the guard against dishonest visa expeditor service companies. While there are reputable service providers available to the public, there are also, unfortunately, those that take advantage of uninformed customers.

“Individuals who use third parties to complete U.S. non-immigrant visa applications should be aware that the U.S. Government does not collect any visa fees online for applicants in Bermuda.

“While a third-party company may legitimately charge a service fee, the non-refundable visa application fee of $160 is to be paid directly by the applicant to U.S. Consulate on the day of the scheduled visa interview.

“All information on applying for a visa in Bermuda can be found on the consulate’s website. For questions about the visa application process, please email the U.S. Consulate at hamiltonconsulate@state.gov.”
