Basketball: Burgess Shines But Medicine Hat Fall

Kieron Burgess and his Medicine Hat College men’s basketball teammates traveled to take on Red Deer College and went down 86 – 66.

Red Deer College jumped out to a 26 – 15 lead at the end of the first quarter. Medicine Hat College outscored Red Deer College 22 – 18 in the second quarter, but the host held a 44 – 37 lead at the break.

Medicine Hat College pulled within four points after outscoring Red Deer College 16 – 13 in the third quarter, but the home team then ran away in the fourth quarter, scoring 29 points and restricting Medicine Hat College to 13 points.

Burgess led the Medicine Hat team in scoring with 22 points in 40 minutes; Burgess went 7 for 23 from the field and hit 3 for 8 from behind the three point line.

Burgess went 5 for 9 from the free throw line and grabbed 15 rebounds, adding three assists and ten steals.
