Celebrating 400th Anniversary Of Parliament

A number of events will take place this year in recognition of the 400th anniversary of the first sitting of Bermuda’s Parliament, and organizations interested in aligning events with the anniversary are asked to please contact the Legislature Office

A government spokesperson said, “The 400th Anniversary Steering Committee is planning a number of events scheduled to take place this year in recognition of the 400th anniversary of the first sitting of Bermuda’s Parliament.

“Both the President of the Senate, Mrs. Joan Dillas-Wright, MBE, JP and the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Hon. Dennis P. Lister, JP, MP, are inviting organizations who are interested in aligning their events with the anniversary to please contact the Legislature Office and share your dates and activities with us.

“The office will be sure to add your organization’s event to the steering committee’s calendar of events which will be promoted on the Parliament’s website in addition to Government’s website and social media platforms The theme of the anniversary is ‘Bermuda: Future Matters.’

“The Committee welcomes members of the community to be inspired by reflecting on our rich and significant history while also looking at the potential for Bermuda’s future.
