Sewage Spill On Palmetto Road By Dock Hill
[Updated with video] A section of Palmetto Road — between Dock Hill and Roberts Avenue — is temporarily closed to traffic due to a “sewage spill caused by a private company,” the Government said this afternoon [Feb 3].
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works’ Highways Section, is advising the public of a sewage spill caused by a private company on Palmetto Road, Pembroke between Dock Hill and Roberts Avenue resulting in the area being temporarily closed to traffic.
“Clean up efforts are well underway and the public will be notified when the road is reopened to traffic.
“As a result of the road closure, the following bus routes have been redirected:
- “Route 10 will now travel into Central Terminal through Prospect, Frog Lane, Parson’s Road, North Street, Cedar Avenue, and then right onto Victoria Street. Buses departing the city will take this route in reverse.
- “Route 9 will travel to Prospect and following this make a U-turn to complete the circular route via Frog Lane, Parson’s Road, North Street, Cedar Avenue, then right onto Victoria Street to Central Terminal.
“The cleanup is expected to be completed by midafternoon after which all buses will return to their normally scheduled routes.
“We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank the area residents for their patience.”
Update 5.04pm: A spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works’ Highways Section, advises that the previously closed section of road has been cleaned of all sewage and reopened to traffic.
“We extend our sincere thanks to the public for their patience and cooperation as we went about cleaning the road surface.”
