Consulate Info Session: Steps To Study In U.S.
The U.S. Consulate General will be hosting an information session entitled “Your Steps to Studying in the United States” on Thursday, March 19th at 5.30pm at the Bermuda EducationUSA Advising Centre.
A spokesperson said, “Meet with the U.S. Consulate General to learn how you can study and earn your degree in the United States during a public information session at the Bermuda EducationUSA Advising Centre on Thursday, March 19, at 5:30 p.m.
“EducationUSA Advisor and Bermuda College Counsellor Janea Mallory along with Vice Consul of the U.S. Consulate Nurik Eldosov, will share information about studying at the more than 4,700 institutions across the United States.
“Janea will give an overview of services provided through the EdUSA Advising Centre, where she assists students with choosing a college or university, the application process, applying for financial aid or scholarships, eligibility for on-campus employment, and gaining work experience after graduation through the Optical Practical Training program.
“Nurik will share his personal experience as a university student in Washington, D.C., student visas, and information about registering to vote in the upcoming primary and general elections for students over the age of 18 years old with American status. The event will conclude with a Q&A session.
“Higher education institutions in the United States currently enroll more than one million international students. By a wide margin, more international students study in the United States than any other country.
“International education should be part of every student’s academic career,” said Secretary of State Michael Pompeo. “We are consistently the number one destination for foreign international students and we are pleased that young people from all over the world want to experience for themselves the American way of life.”
“About 300 students from Bermuda were enrolled in a U.S. college or university last year, where they have met a variety of people and gained skills that will help them succeed in reaching their goals. Bermuda’s close proximity to the United States and visa exemption are advantages to both prospective and current students,” says U.S. Consul General Constance Dierman.
“Bermuda’s EdUSA Advising Centre is located in the Counselling and Career Centre at the Bermuda College. Space is limited. Please RSVP to HamiltonRSVP@state.gov or 441-278-7508.
“EducationUSA represents the more than 4,700 accredited U.S. colleges and universities and supports their overseas recruitment of international students. EducationUSA’s services are available to students around the world, focusing on helping students find the “right fit” in an American college or university.
