Airlines Not Re-Commencing Flights Until May 1
“There is no commercial air carrier that has regular service to Bermuda that is intending on re-commencing flights until 1 May,” Premier David Burt said.
The airport was closed to commercial passenger planes on March 20th, and while a few private planes have landed, along with regular cargo jet flights, commercial airlines are not arriving at this time, a scenario which is occurring all over the world due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Yesterday, the Premier said, “I want to touch on the airport and when it is scheduled to reopen.
“We closed the airport to scheduled commercial traffic for two weeks, commencing on March 20 2020. The fact is, however, that due to the global situation we have been informed that there is no commercial air carrier that has regular service to Bermuda that is intending on re- commencing flights until 1 May 2020.
“It is important to note that this is not fully a decision of the Government of Bermuda, but also of the air carriers which flying. This does not prevent our efforts to continue the work to bring stranded Bermudians home and ensure that there are adequate quarantine facilities in which to house those persons to then minimize the risk of any future outbreak.”

Officials are urging everyone to please follow all guidance like washing your hands, adhering to self quarantine if relevant, and practicing social distancing, and they have asked that if it is not urgent, a necessity or work, to please stay home to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
