Corporation Of Hamilton Implement 10% Pay Cut

The Corporation of Hamilton have “implemented a temporary 10% pay cut across the organization in an effort to remain buoyant and agile in these ever-changing times.”

A spokesperson said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant financial impact on Bermuda, and the Corporation of Hamilton [COH] is not immune to its effects.

“The Corporation of Hamilton, in consultation and agreement with the Bermuda Public Services Union and the Bermuda Industrial Union, has implemented a temporary 10% pay cut across the organization in an effort to remain buoyant and agile in these ever-changing times.

“The COH is projecting significant losses in its core revenue streams and is adjusting the organization accordingly by extensive cuts to the operational expenses in our 2020 budget, by postponing capital projects as well as events, to preserve finances.”

Corporation COO & Secretary, Dwayne Caines, said, “The Corporation of Hamilton is committed to its staff, and our number one priority is the health and safety of our employees, as well as retaining the full workforce.

“We remain committed to be a democratically elected, vibrant, safe and clean city, focused on economic growth and livability.”

    So the staff that are working get a 10% pay cut and the staff who aren’t working also get a 10% pay cut?

    Amen, next the civil service should take a 30% pay cut.

    Obviously economics and finance isn’t your strong suit.

    Cutting the Civil service by that much would totally ca lapse the economy even more. The civil service employees and the high paying private sector jobs will be the only individuals stimulating the economy for the next 24 months. If you cut them that drastic they will spend less money, which will effect other jobs/businesses.
