Photos: Student Art Celebrates Bermuda

May 29, 2020

Led by art teacher and children’s book illustrator Patricia Lambert, students at Northlands Primary School recently created artwork via remote learning in order to celebrate Bermuda.

A spokesperson said, “While citizens near and far stand in lines awaiting service, students at Northlands Primary School explore their roots and create works of art via remote learning.

“Led by art teacher and children’s book illustrator Mrs. Patricia Lambert, students have created Bermuda Gombeys – some of them edible – masks, heritage flags, Bermuda Day favourites, and symbols of Bermuda.

“They have been given a firm foundation in the arts and have studied and produced works from numerous media.

“This year, they explored Bermuda fish and used oil paints as part of the requirements for the Ag Show.

“They used literature to enhance appreciation for nature and designed butterflies, flowers, and birds, to name some of the exciting artwork which was displayed recently at the Bermuda Society of Arts.

“One piece was chosen by curators to be displayed at the Bermuda Maritime Museum in Dockyard.

“The all time favourite this year was the Bermuda Gombey.”
