Having meetings in the middle of the day or when it is most convenient to the bus drivers reeks of selfishness and inconsideration of the public. This is a patently ridiculous and unreasonable practice. There is no time that a meeting can be held when all drivers are off. Hence some will miss a meeting. But, does this mean that hundreds must be sacrificial lambs just to satisfy the whims of the BIU? If there’s has to be a meeting, then why can’t it Be belt at say 7pm when there are less passengers requiring public transport.
It seems that Bermuda is always having to dance to the tune of the BIU. Other unions have meetings after work or in the evenings. Determining what members want or their grievances is personal and even though they may related to the jobs should be conducted in their time, not the public’s.
