Foundation Recruiting New Committee Members

July 2, 2020

The Bank of Bermuda Foundation announced that it is currently recruiting Review Committee members.

A spokesperson said, “Bank of Bermuda Foundation [Foundation] is pleased to announce an opportunity for members of the community to join one of its four Review Committees. The Foundation values diverse perspectives and varied backgrounds. It is committed to ensuring its Board, Staff, and Review Committees reflect the diversity of the community. It is actively embedding diversity and inclusion initiatives into its selection process for anyone wishing to be part of the Foundation.

“The purpose of each Review Committee is to closely examine grant applications from an unbiased perspective. The Foundation has four areas of grant focus and more information on this can be found in its Theory of Change on its website.

“Each Review Committee meets three times per year around its grant cycles and there is required pre-reading and scoring of grants prior to each Review Committee meeting. Membership on a Review Committee is a voluntary position.

“The Foundation is looking for individuals who represent a diverse cross section of individuals, whether it be through age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability or varying socio-economic backgrounds. The Foundation recognises that diverse perspectives will serve to enrich its decision making in support of the whole community.

“As a result of implementing term limits across the Foundation, and after a thorough review of conflicts of interest, the Foundation identified an immediate and future need for new Review Committee members. Its goal is to have at least seven members on each Review Committee, leading to a need for ten new members. Ideally, new members are available to join prior to the Foundation’s September 30th grant process.”

Allison Towlson, the Foundation’s Managing Director said: “We want to make the Foundation more accessible and more reflective of the community we live in. We need expertise and experience that enhances our Theory of Change work, that will serve to enrich and inform our decision making. Diverse perspectives will support our goal of placing equity at the forefront of our decision making.”

The spokesperson added, “To join the Bank of Bermuda Foundation family and be part of social change in Bermuda, applicants are invited to provide their resume to kim.pratt@butterfieldgroup.comno later than 17th July, 2020.

“For further details on the expertise we are seeking, including an outline of the terms of reference for Review Committee members together with application requirements, please visit our website at www.bankofbermudafoundation.bm /resources.
