“Mashpee Nine” Film Screening & Discussion
The Bermudian Heartbeats Lecture Series in collaboration with St. David’s Islander and Native Community will be holding a film screening and online discussion via Zoom of the documentary film “Mashpee Nine” on Friday [July 17] from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.
The event poster says, “During the summer of 1976, an incident involving a Massachusetts police force disrupting a group of traditional drummers and singers evolved into a high-profile trial of nine young Native American men arrested
“This 2016 documentary film commemorates the 40th anniversary of that event and the efforts by one of the American Indian Movement’s most skilled and dogged attorneys to defend the Nine.”
