Video: Somerset Police Station Re-Opens
The Somerset Police Station has officially re-opened its doors after being closed due to severe damage caused by Hurricane Humberto.
In an online post, the BPS said, “ Somerset Police Station officially re-opened its doors after being closed for nearly one year due to severe damages caused by Hurricane Humberto in September 2019.
“The brief ceremony was attended by The Minister of National Security, the Hon. Mrs. Renee Ming., JP MP, the Hon, Mr. Dennis Lister., JP MP, the Shadow Minister of National Security, Mr. Ben Smith JP MP, The Commissioner of Police Mr. Stephen Corbishley, the Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Martin Weekes, Superintendent Na’imah Astwood, officers and staff of the Bermuda Police Service and several members of the west end community.
“Restoring the station was a collaborated effort by Works & Engineering, Baltech Construction, AIRCARE Ltd, Acting Chief Inspector Scott DeVine and Constable Keola Thompson.
“During the ceremony, the Commissioner took time to make a special presentation to Constable Thompson for her efforts, as she played a critical role in the management and decision making during the refurbishment of the Somerset Police Station.
“The Commissioner of Police and by extension, Bermuda Police Service, thanked the western community for their patience during the renovation process and we look forward to strengthening our relationship within the community.”
