Official Handover Of Two New Tugboats
Minister of Transport Lawrence Scott visited Dockyard for the “official handover” of Bermuda’s two newest tugboats.
A Government spokesperson said, “On Friday, 16th October 2020, the Minister of Transport the Hon. Lawrence Scott JP, MP visited Dockyard for the official handover of Bermuda’s two newest tugboats, Powerful and Faithful.

“The two new fuel-efficient Damen ASD 2811 Azimuth Stern Drive tugs arrived Saturday, 26th September onboard the special heavy lift ship M/V Anne-Sofie and replace the Department of Marine and Ports’ old tugs Powerful and Faithful, which are 31 and 32 years old respectively.”
“The Transport Minister was joined on his familiarisation tour by Marine and Ports Services’ personnel, including the Director of Marine and Ports Services Rudolph Cann; Department of Marine & Ports Services Fleet Manager Jean Lemaire as well as Mr. Romans Maksjutovs – an engineer from the tugs’ manufacturer, Damen.”
“The new tugboats Powerful and Faithful are impressive vessels and a welcome addition to the Marine and Ports Services’ fleet,” said Minister Scott. “I must also acknowledge former Minister Zane DeSilva, who was instrumental in negotiating the deal that allowed for their purchase.”
