A Tree of Reconciliation & Peace Ceremony will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 14th by the Bermuda Islamic Cultural Center at Winterhaven Cottage at Harrington Sound Road,
A spokesperson said, “A Tree of Reconciliation & Peace Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 14th by the Bermuda Islamic Cultural Center at Winterhaven Cottage, Harrington Sound Road, Smith’s [starting at 10am] in order to launch a global campaign for food security.
“This campaign is based on the interfaith spirit of global cooperation that was formalized on December 17, 2019 by the official exchange of the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” [“The Document”] between The Most Reverend Wes Spiewack [Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton] and Emir Saleem Talbot [Imam of the Bermuda Islamic Cultural Center at Harrington Sound].
“The Founders Day Ceremony will be used to formally acknowledge the contribution of His Excellency John Rankin to this initiative, as well as to thank him for his broader service to the people of Bermuda during his distinguished tenure as Governor.
“In addition, the community is invited to enjoy an Open House of the 17th century plantation cottage “Winterhaven” that is now being converted to a mosque by the Bermuda Islamic Cultural Center as well as a living laboratory for global food security.
