Video: ‘Taking Off’ Highlights Check In Area
Skyport has released the latest episode of ‘Taking Off’, a video series with host Mikaela Pearman that highlights the airport redevelopment project, with this episode highlighting the new check in area.
Speaking in the episode, Mikaela Pearman said, “As we get closer to the opening of the new passenger terminal building, I’ll be sharing what to expect in the new space in a new ten-part series of Taking Off. In this third episode, we will take a look at the new check in area.
“The biggest change from the existing terminal to the new terminal is that you will check your bags through right when you check in. Makes sense right?
“Currently at the existing terminal, for those traveling to the US, if you have checked luggage, you have to wheel it with you while you go to stand in line at US Customs and Border Protection.
“Then you hand the bags off before clearing security.
“The new terminal is set up much more conveniently – you check in via the self-kiosk or with an airline agent and then check your bags at the luggage drop.
“You eventually make your way through US Customs – without having to carry your bags in tow, just like if you were heading to the UK or Canada.
“This is in keeping with worldwide security standards and makes the process easier for you, the traveler.
“Next week we will look at the new security protocols.”
