Dunkley: ‘Concerning To Learn’ About Contract
[Updated with audio] It was “concerning to learn” that the Travel Authorization site contract awarded to resqwest.com was sole sourced, MP Michael Dunkley said, adding that the “company has been paid $193,000 for their services in a few months.”
MP Michael Dunkley said, “A busy morning in Parliament today with numerous statements and questions.
“There is lots to review but it was concerning to learn that in answering Opposition questions the Government revealed that the Travel Authorization site contract awarded to resqwest.com was sole sourced.
“Upon further questioning it was revealed that a principal of the company is hired by the government as a consultant.
“To date that company has been paid $193,000 for their services in a few months.
“The Government has charged travelers over $1.741,000 to date and the money currently has not been transferred to the consolidated fund but sits with resqwest.com.
“Let me be clear…the site appears to be working well and has helped in our battle against Covid but transparency and accountability must always be part of a government.”
Bernews asked the Government for the Minister’s remarks in the House and will update as able.
Update 7.46pm: Audio of the Q&A about the website contract is below.
Sweet heart deals and monopolies, regardless of how well run and efficient they may be, are never good – whether they be this matter or something as long running as a de-facto milk monopoly. Look yourself in the mirror Michael and say it ain’t so…
Well Michael it’s sort of like us finding out about your Morgan’s Point contract to guarantee their losses and the airport contract details where we pay for non performance!
What this all tells us is you polititricks people have no clue what you are doing!
