Notice Of Declaration Of Labour Dispute

Pursuant to section 4 of the Labour Disputes Act 1992, I declare that a labour dispute exists between the Bermuda Public Service Union and the Ombudsman for Bermuda.

In accordance with section 11 as read with section 4, of the Labour Disputes Act 1992, I am referring the said dispute for settlement to the Labour Disputes Tribunal established under section 5 of that Act.

In accordance with section 19 of the Labour Disputes Act 1992, after the publication of this Notice, any lockout strike or irregular industrial action short of a strike is unlawful and any person who takes part in, incites or in any way encourages, persuades or influences any person to take part in, or otherwise acts in furtherance of, a lock-out, strike or irregular industrial action short of a strike that is unlawful under this section is guilty of an offence.

Large Group Exemption Bermuda Karting Club Prize Giving

Public Health [Covid-19 Emergency Powers] Regulations 2020 Large Group Exemption:

Bermuda Karting Club Prize Giving

Whereas the Minister of National Security considers that the proposed Bermuda Karting Club – Prize Giving is an event are justifying an exemption from the prohibition in regulation 4 [1] and [2] of the Public Health [COVID-19 Emergency Powers] Regulations 2020 on groups of more than seventy-five persons assembling;

Now, therefore, the Minister grants an exemption under regulation 4 [4] of those Regulations to Bermuda Karting Club [President – Jason North] permitting a group of more than seventy-five persons to assemble on Saturday November 21, 2020 between 6:30 pm and 10:30 pm at the Spanish Point Boat Club, 1 Spanish Point Road, Pembroke Parish, with the following conditions:

Conditions:

  • All persons attending the Bermuda Karting Club Prize Giving event must maintain appropriate physical distancing which is described as; maintaining a distance between all persons who are not members of the same household of at least –
    • [a] six feet; or
    • [b] three feet, provided each person is wearing a mask which completely covers their nose and mouth, and follow any relevant guidance.
  • Maximum number of attendees – 120 [includes attendees and event staff]
  • Names and contact information of persons attending the Bermuda Karting Club Prize Giving to be recorded for the for the purpose of contact tracing. Information to be retained for 28 days post-date of event.
  • Duration of event: 4 hours [6:30 pm to 10:30 pm]
  • Adherence to all applicable COVID 19 Health Guidelines as published by the Ministry of Health.
  • The Ministry of National Security reserves the right to withdraw the permission to have more than seventy-five persons assembled at the event without notice or cost to the Bermuda Government subject to the status of COVID 19 in the local community.
  • The Bermuda Police Service / Ministry of National Security Official have right to attend and observe compliance of the conditions as prescribed above.
