Amber Farrington Called To The Bermuda Bar
Amber Farrington has been called to the Bermuda Bar, with a ceremony taking place on Friday.
A spokesperson said, “Amber’s academic journey first began at the Bermuda High School for Girls where she was named runner-up Valedictorian in 2012. Next, she received advanced placement into the Bachelor of Arts programme at McGill University and graduated in 2015.
“Amber attended the University of Bristol where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws in 2018. Thereafter, she attended University of Law in London and passed the qualifying examinations in 2019.
“Amber started with Appleby in 2017 as a summer student and was a scholarship awardee and training contract recipient in 2018. During her initial time at Appleby, Amber was part of the Appleby winning team in the Hector Barcilon Memorial Moot.
“Amber undertook her pupillage with Appleby from September 2019 to September 2020. Her first seat was in the Corporate team under the mentorship of Senior Associate Josephine Noddings. As of September 2020, Amber is employed as a second-year Trainee at Appleby. Amber is presently in her third seat in the Insurance team under the mentorship of Counsel Matthew Carr.
“Amber joined the Bermuda Lifeguard Service in 2014 and has served as a member from time to time, most recently in 2019.. Upon reflection, Amber finds parallels between lifeguarding and lawyering stating that, “there are similarities on a deeper level as both require a sense of duty.”
John Wasty, Head of Dispute Resolution, highlighted Ms Farrington as “a person of good character and is, in my respectful opinion, a fit and proper person to be admitted to practise as a barrister and attorney in the Supreme Court of Bermuda. On behalf of all at Appleby I would like to congratulate Amber on successfully being called to the Bermuda Bar.”
Ms Farrington said, “Thank you to Appleby for providing me with this opportunity. I started with Appleby as a summer student in 2017. It was an honour to be named a scholarship and training contract awardee the following year. Thank you for the experience and amazing mentors.”
Congratulations Amber !!!!
