BSGS Donates Turkeys & Hams To Charities
The Bermuda Senior Golfers Society [BSGS] recently donated four hams and six turkeys to the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Senior Golfers Society, founded in 1952 and with some 100 members – although not all active – currently on its books, normally holds its annual Turkey Tournament at this time of the year, with hams and turkeys awarded to the winning teams.
“This year, however, with increased Covid restrictions, it was decided to cancel the event.
“Rather than seek a refund for the prizes, the Executive Committee considered it more appropriate, particularly given the large number of people adversely affected by the impact of Covid, to donate the hams and turkeys to local organizations which could put them to good use.
“Therefore, on behalf of the BSGS membership, a donation of four hams and six turkeys was made to each of the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels in the knowledge that they would help to brighten the Christmas of some less fortunate members of our community.”
