The Butterfield Bermuda Championship announced that the island-wide initiative Birdies for Charity, which supported more than 40 local charities last year, will run again in 2023.

A spokesperson said, “At a launch reception last week held at Butterfield’s head office, charities were given an opportunity to meet with the organisers and to ask questions about how they can benefit from the program. Registration is open and Bermuda charities and non-profit organisations can sign-up via the website.

“The Butterfield Bermuda Championship Birdies for Charity is an easy and effective matching fund programme where the tournament sponsors match fundraising efforts made by participating charities for a six-month period, starting in July to the end of November. Organisations receive every penny they raise, plus up to a 10% match on every donation. Since its inception in 2019, the programme has helped to raise a total of more than $2 million.”

Tournament Director Danielle Carrera, said: “2022 was the most successful year to date of the Birdies for Charity program, in total, over $1.1 million was raised last year and we look forward to continuing the growth of the program and the impact to Bermuda. We encourage all charities in Bermuda to join by 1 August to take advantage of the opportunity. Thank you to our partners, Butterfield, Bermuda Tourism Authority, Mastercard, Digicel Business, The Hamilton Princess and Beach Club, BF&M, and Somerset Re, who continue to ensure our charitable impact is maximised.”

The spokesperson said, “For those who are interested in learning more about the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Birdies for Charity programme should contact Dede Cooper for more information at dede@butterfieldbdachampionship.com.”
