Butterfield Donates $25K For School Supplies
The Bank of Butterfield has purchased $25,000 worth of school supplies for Bermuda’s public primary schools through local organisation Support Public Schools [SPS] Bermuda.
A spokesperson said, “SPS aims to help provide Bermuda’s public school students with the equipment and supplies they need for a better quality education by connecting donors and teachers. Through SPS, public school teachers submit “wish lists” of items that will help improve students’ classroom experiences and foster better learning and development.
“Donors select items they wish to contribute and which schools they wish to support, and pay for them at discount prices from the website SPS.bm. Orders are filled and delivered to the schools free of charge by local vendors, A.F. Smith and Phoenix Stores Ltd., along with the SPS team.
“Butterfield’s $25,000 donation went towards supplies for all 18 of Bermuda’s public primary schools. The supplies include hygienic supplies to help keep students COVID-safe in the classroom and these will be delivered on 8 and 9 December with COVID safety protocols in place.”
Michael Neff, Butterfield’s Managing Director in Bermuda said, “Education is the key to continued long-term prosperity for Bermuda and its people, and we are proud to have been able to help enhance the learning experience for public school students through SPS. We encourage other corporate and individual donors to consider doing the same.”
Juliana Snelling, Founder of SPS Bermuda said, “We are eternally grateful to Butterfield and its employees for helping outfit Bermuda’s public schools with equipment and important materials to help hard-working teachers give their students the richest possibly education experience.
“We hope their generosity inspires others to give. More information can be found, and supplies can be purchased, on www.sps.bm or by e-mailing us at spsteam@sps.bm.”
