Swimming: Bermuda Long Course Records

As the year draws to a close we take a look at Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association records that have stood for more than a decade, with a look at the Long Course Records below.

Kiera Aitken is the Women’s 100m Freestyle record holder with a time of 56.99, set back on July 31st, 2009 during the World Championships in Rome, Italy.

With a time of 4:34.90, Kiera Aitken set the Women’s 400m Freestyle record on June 29th, 2009 at the Florida Gold Coast Invitational in Coral Springs, United States.

Back on August 10th, 2008 at the Olympic Games in Beijing, China, Kiera Aitken set the Women’s 100m Backstroke record touching the wall in a time of 1:02.62.

Kiera Aitken is the Women’s 200m Backstroke record holder with a time of 2:16.95 set back on April 18th, 2009, during the Spanish Spring Cup 1st Division in Castellón, Spain.

The Women’s 4×50m Freestyle Relay record time of 1:52.44 was set back on June 25th, 2009 by Eleanor Gardner, Lara Loescher, Rachael Petty, and Kiera Aitken during the Florida Gold Coast Invitational in Coral Springs, United States.

The Women’s 4×50m Medley Relay team of Kiera Aitken, Lisa Blackburn, Lara Loescher, and Eleanor Gardner set this record back on June 25th, 2009 during the Florida Gold Coast Invitational in Coral Springs, United States with a time of 2:04.32.

The longest Men’s record has stood for 28 years, it is in the Men’s 4×100m Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:31.17 set by Ian Raynor, Michael Cash, Craig Morbey, and Geri Mewett at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain.

The longest Women’s record has stood for 12 years at the Carifta Swimming Championships in Savaneta, Aruba, the combination of Eleanor Gardner, Rebecca Sharpe, Rebecca Heyliger, and Nicole Yearwood set the new Women’s 4×200m Freestyle Relay record with a time of 9:19.51.

Ronald Cowen is the record holder in the Men’s 100m Backstroke with a time of 59.94 set back in July 2004, during the CISC in Kingston, Jamaica.

With a time of 56.31 in the Men’s 100m Butterfly Stephen Fahy has held the record set back in August 1999 at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada.

Stephen Fahy is also the Men’s 200m Individual Medley record holder with a time of 2:07.25 set back in August 1999 at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada.

The team of Roy-Allan Burch, Nicholas Thomson, Kellan DeSilva, and Julian Fletcher are the Men’s 4×50m Freestyle Relay record holders with a time of 1:39.42, set back on June 25th, 2009, during the Florida Gold Coast Invitational in Coral Springs, United States.

The Men’s 4×50m Medley Relay record of 1:54.39 was set by Nicholas Thomson, Julian Fletcher, Nicholas Patterson, and Roy-Allan Burch on June 25th, 2009 at the Florida Gold Coast A Invitational at Coral Springs, United States.

Back on August 1st, 1994 at the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada, the Men’s 4×100m Medley Relay record was set in a time of 4:03.38 by Stanley Harris, Chris Flook, Stephen Fahy, and Geri Mewett.
