The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] Board of Directors have announced the appointment of Karla Lacey as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1.

She joins BUEI after nearly seven years as Chief Operating Officer at the Bermuda Tourism Authority.

Ron Stan and Will Cox, Board Co-Chairs, said, “Karla brings a wealth of organizational leadership experience and service delivery expertise to the BUEI team.

“The Board is excited about the prospects for BUEI going forward, and we look forward to working with Karla as she builds on the excellent groundwork that her predecessor and team have laid over the last 30 months.

“The Board also wishes to recognize the significant contributions of former CEO Tara Curtis who, prior to her departure as CEO, did an admirable job steering BUEI through the uncharted and troubled waters of COVID19. Thanks to Tara’s leadership, BUEI has remained strong and well positioned going into 2021.”
