Video: Gombeys Celebrate The New Year
Bermuda’s Gombey troupes are out making their rounds today [Jan 1], offering short, physically-distanced performances in various small neighbourhoods to help welcome in the New Year.
It has been a longstanding tradition that the Gombeys perform on New Year’s Day, and the Government previously said that the Gombey troupes worked with Government to agree on a plan for New Year’s Day, in order to provide performances while also keeping the public safe from the spread of Covid-19.
The Gombeys are expected to be out until 10pm this evening, and if you are lucky enough to see them in your neighbourhood, please stay 12 feet away the performers, wear a mask and keep six feet away from other spectators.
