Really??? Facts- We have an aging population which means healthcare is needed more and the downside it is driving up the costs. Aging population also means less people working. There is an exodus of people who can’t afford to live here anymore. If you tax more the cost of living will increase. For eg. you mandate an income tax on the people who are making money on renting out multiple homes. What do you think they will do, keep the rental price the same or increase it? Of course they will increase it and pass on the tax to the people who are renting. Same thing happened with the sugar tax. Truth is you need to look within the Government to save money. Money is wasted everyday and there is no accountability. Multimillion dollar fast ferries that burn way too much fuel and constantly have mechanical issues. Large expensive buses that are too big for the roads which also have maintenance issues and damages. Unnecessary spending before budget time from Civil Servants so that their budget doesn’t get cut. Unproductive Gov workforce who just show up for a paycheck and don’t get disciplined by management. The other Gov workers that work hard, don’t get praise or an increase in pay which lowers overall moral and productivity. Mismanagement overruns and contracts/rents awarded to friends and family or government ministers owning “consultancy companies”.
Money wasted Edward M Stowe Tug, Guardian Police Boat, Prefab houses that were to replace Albert Row (currently at Sally port dump), Berkeley, Cedarbridge Heritage wharf, Port Royal golf coarse, Hospital and Cross island overruns. These are just a few. You are taxing people to leave the island and further increase the debt burden you face.

Well, we knew it was coming.

  4. How many times do these fiscal clowns have to told that Bermuda, does not have a revenue problem, we have a huge SPENDING problem?
There is no where else on the entire planet that has a population our size, that has an income of over $1 BILLION a year, and the plp government has consistently over spent year after year!

The Cayman Islands that has a population a little larger than ours now with a land mass 5 times bigger, can somehow live off of $700 Million income and still have a surplus of over $200 MILLION a year!!

At this point, I cant even say Bermuda is getting exactly what it voted for, because it appears the OBA is just as clueless!!
