Smith & Patton Conclude Competing In Florida
Benn Smith recently qualified for the Men’s Laser World’s Championship at the conclusion of the Lauderdale Olympic Classes Regatta [LOCR] in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Smith and Campbell Patton were battling for the Bermuda spot in the Championship during the event.
A total of three races were sailed on the final day of racing, with Smith starting the day in 19th place with 71 points. He finished 16th in the first race of the day and the fifth of the Regatta, then finished 34th in the second race of the day, before closing out with a 28th place finish in the final race of the regatta to finish with 115 points.
Patton started the day in 18th place with 84 points. He finished the regatta in 29th place with 133 points. Patton recorded finishes of 17th, 33rd and 32nd in the day’s three races.
