Photos: MoonGate Gives Back On Valentine’s Day
Following a successful campaign last year, MoonGate Group once again distributed its “We Care Packages” to vulnerable persons in the community this Valentine’s Day, with the company increasing the number of packages from 100 to 150, expanding the contents, and provided them in a waterproof tote-bag.
The company noted that they appreciated the assistance of a few of its own HealthCare partners and individuals who helped sponsor this community project.
MoonGate CEO Leon Bascome said, “The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on the Bermuda community; I observed a difference in composition from the last time we went out: they are getting younger and there is more of a cross-section.
“There are always ‘mixed emotions’ of joy and sadness when we give back in this manner: firstly, you never feel that you can do enough; secondly, you encounter people that you know and grew up with, it’s heartbreaking. The flip side is the gratitude shared by these recipients and smiles on their faces. We are not a conglomerate but we will continue to do what we can, to make a difference”.
MoonGate used a different approach this year by targeting churches and organizations which already help people in the community; the leaders understand where the need is greatest.
The company started next door at The Holy Cathedral and distributed 35 packages to those waiting in line for lunch; the journey then ventured to Christ Church in Warwick where Jill Bosch De Noya, one of the program coordinators, was delighted to receive 25 packages.
Mr. Ryan Wilson was grateful to receive 15 packages on behalf of The First Church of God for its ‘Touch the World Foundation’ community, and the team visited Teen Haven where Michelle Wade, program coordinator, was appreciative for the help and support for its clients.
Ms. Chantel Simons, Business Development Officer at MoonGate, coordinated the event and reached out to partner organizations and friends to create the ‘We Care’ packages. They are:

- Butterfield & Vallis – deodorants, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion.
