Video: BFRS Extinguish Boat Fire In Warwick
[Updated with video] The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service extinguished a boat fire in the Riddell’s Bay, Warwick area last night [Feb 1] with a 25-foot boat “fully engulfed in flames.”
A BFRS spokesperson said, “At 10:56pm on Monday February 1, 2021, Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service received a report of a boat on fire at Riddell’s Bay Warwick.
“BFRS responded with one appliance from the Port Royal Station and a total of four firefighters. Upon arrival, fire crews saw a 25 foot boat fully engulfed in flames which had broken away from its mooring and drifted next to a private dock in the area.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly extinguished the fire using foam off the fire appliance.
“The fire is presently under investigation.”
Update 2.40pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 10:40 p.m. on Monday 1st February, 2021, Police and Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service [BFRS] responded to a report of a boat on fire in the Riddell’s Bay, Warwick area.
“On arrival, officers found a small white boat engulfed.
“BFRS attended the location and extinguished the blaze.
“There were no reports of anyone having been injured and no damage to any other property.
“Foul play had not been ruled out.
“The damaged boat was secured by BFRS staff and the area secured by police.
“Officers from the police Forensic Support Unit along with a Fire Investigator returned to the location today to continue enquiries.
“Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call 211 or, the main police number 295-0011.”

What kind of boat was it?
When are all derelict boats going to be removed from all over our island? This is just one more that will be an environmental eyesore. Government needs to remove them at the owners expense.
