BWS: Gusts As High As 62 Knots Last Night

March 8, 2021

“Gusts as high as 62 knots [71.3mph] at elevated locations last night were associated with some hefty showers in the cold air,” the Bermuda Weather Service said.

The BWS posted the graphic below online today [March 8] and said, “The active weather continues, as winter 2020/21 continues its trek towards spring. Gusts as high as 62 knots at elevated locations last night were associated with some hefty showers in the cold air. The Gale Warning yesterday was augmented with a Severe Weather Warning overnight [Sunday into Monday].

“This was due to the potential for storm force gusts in some of the heavier showers being detected by Doppler radar late last night. The winds will continue to gradually subside today, but temperatures have once again plummeted in the cold air, accompanied by blustery showers.

“Chilly conditions are forecast to continue through tonight and tomorrow, before starting to recover. As always, please stay abreast of local conditions by checking www.weather.bm regularly.
