Minister Reminds ‘Rule Breakers’ Of Regulations

March 17, 2021

The Ministry is “carefully monitoring the current outbreak” and has “recommended the current restrictions remain in place for a further two weeks,” Health Minister Kim Wilson said, adding that “the carelessness of party-goers may change that for the worse.”

Speaking at last night’s [March 16] press conference, Minister Wilson said, “Before I close, I must remind the rule-breakers, those throwing parties and events with more than 25 people in attendance – this is not allowed, and it is dangerous and irresponsible behaviour.

“The more of these parties that occur, the more chances there are of spreading the coronavirus. If the virus spreads, we will likely end up with more restrictions – beyond a midnight curfew and gatherings limited to 25 people.

“As it stands, the Ministry is carefully monitoring the current outbreak – and it is an outbreak – and has recommended the current restrictions remain in place for a further two weeks. The carelessness of party-goers may change that for the worse.

“Please, everyone, follow the rules and guidelines … continue to wear your mask, practice hand hygiene, and physically distance.

“Avoid the three ‘Cs’ – closed spaces with poor ventilation, crowded places with many people nearby, and close-contact settings such as close-range conversations – six feet must be maintained at all times, including greetings.”

It’s quite disturbing when the Minister talks about irresponsible behavior when they’re not dealing with the root cause of the problem. The reason there’s an outbreak is because people are coming into the country with this virus and it’s spreading to the citizens.
So why wouldn’t the Government shut the airport down for and extended period until they stabilize the cases where there’s a lower level of transmission then slowly open back up like other countries have done.
Greenland and New Zealand just to name a few. New Zealand citizens aren’t wearing mask or social distancing because they’ve kept their airport closed and there’s zero transmission.
But instead, they’re allowing people to fly into the country bringing the virus, spreading it amongst the citizens and now blaming and even threatening to prosecute the citizens for a problem they’ve created. So now the citizens have to suffer for such incompetence and endure a curfew that they would’ve even had to consider if there was a more proactive solution in place. Then they wondering why cases are rising…..?
Simple solution, CLOSE THE AIRPORT and get transmission levels lowered and better controlled before the summer when the country depends on tourism…..

Simple solution, CLOSE THE AIRPORT and deal with lowering the transmission throughout the community then slowly open back up so the country is ready to receive tourist during the summer. Simple!
