May 25, 2021

A bulk carrier — that was traveling from Houston to Egypt — diverted to Bermuda to disembark a sick crewmember.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Thursday 20th May, 8:25 am – Meyer’s Agency called RCC Bermuda reporting the U.S. Flagged ship Liberty Glory, would divert to Bermuda to land a sick crewmember.

“The bulk carrier had left Houston, Texas, in the U.S.A., and was enroute to Port Said, in Egypt, to transit the Suez Canal before diverting to Bermuda. Pilot Boat St. George conducted the transfer and landed the crewmember ashore to be transferred to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance while the ship continued its trans-Atlantic passage.“
