Hopkins Competes In Spanish Cup Cycling Series
Kaden Hopkins and his Essax teammates competed in the Spanish Cup Cycling Series Beasain 121.0 km Road Race.
Hopkins clocked a time of 2:54:37 to cross the line 75th.
“I tried to get in the early breakaway today following the moved that had 3 or 4 boys of Lizarte and Euskadi,” the cyclist said.
“They are 2 of the biggest teams on this circuit, in one of the breaks I took a pull and looked back and I was alone, I tried a similar move in the Dominican Republic where I went alone.”
“I was away for about 15 km before I was caught, then I went straight back into the front,” continued Hopkins, “I was strong during the first 3 climbs, but the 4th was 20% gradients for the first 300m and I could not follow the front boys.”
“I ended up in a group of about 20 guys and when we arrived at the last climb, the group exploded and I went away with the first 5 or 6 guys, I finished 6 minutes down, but I felt very good today.
“I was able to be in the front all day until I was dropped. I finally feel I’m on the right path so hopefully, the news will keep getting more exciting.”
