May 18, 2021

WindReach is launching WindReach at Home, a new social-enterprise project “where the benefits of nature-based learning experiences can be enjoyed by the entire community.”

A spokesperson said, “WindReach is delighted to initiate a new social-enterprise project – WindReach at Home – where the benefits of nature-based learning experiences can be enjoyed by the entire community.

“The entire community is invited to purchase a Sunflower Project Package from BrightIsle, and all purchases will help to support the ongoing therapeutic and educational programmes offered to people living with special needs and/or diverse abilities.”

Alyssa Frick, Life Skills Occupational Therapist at WindReach, said, “During stay-at-home orders we as programme coordinators worked diligently to find ways to bring our experiential learning activities to our participants.

“After working very hard on various resources, videos and activities we discovered that these would be great for the community at large. We contacted Sousa’s and Bright Isle for their assistance and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

“These kits are perfect for the entire family and the workbook is meant to provide a wide range of options to interact with this activity and provide educational opportunities that suit everyone’s skills and abilities. We are so happy with the support we have received thus far with many of the kits already purchased.”

Melanie Scanlon, owner of BrightIsle, said, “We are thrilled to be able to partner with and help support WindReach by offering this resource to our customers and to the community at large. The partnership with WindReach is a perfect one for us as we encourage parents and children to engage in fun learning experiences together: to create memories, to build the parent-child relationship, and for children to see that learning happens beyond the classroom.

“The project package, combined with the cross-curricular activities and extension ideas provided in the workbook, is a fantastic resource for parents.”

The spokesperson said, “WindReach has been providing experiential and environmental learning experiences to our community since 1999. Whether it’s through our Therapeutic Riding, Life Skills, Environmental Education or Adult Day Programmes, we know that the cultivation of a sense of wonder, while engaging in hands-on activities in nature, supports the healthy emotional and physical development of people of all ages.

“It is truly a win-win purchase! Purchasers and their children get to experience a little bit of WindReach magic knowing that your purchase has a direct and positive impact on others who engage in our programmes at WindReach.

“Our Sunflower Project Package is chock full engaging lessons, experiential activities, virtual resources, actual gardening materials and more! We are so appreciative to our Donors at Sousa’s Garden Centre and BrightIsle for helping us to make this happen.

“It is through their generosity that 100% of net proceeds will go directly to our WindReach programmes.”
