Bermuda Championship Donates $20K To BGA

June 2, 2021

The Bermuda Championship announced a donation of $20,000 to the Bermuda Golf Association [BGA], a beneficiary of the island’s official PGA TOUR event.

“As the recognised National Sport Governing Body for golf in Bermuda, the Bermuda Golf Association is grateful for the donation extending from the Bermuda Championship,” said BGA President Craig Brown. “Our goal is to use the funds for golf development partnering with our industry stakeholders.”

“To date, some the funds have been used as part of a partnership with the Bermuda Professional Golfers’ Association [BPGA] to provide Level 1 TPI certification opportunities for members of the BPGA. The remaining funds will be allocated to support other areas of the BGA junior programme, such as equipment and educational support for our new Golf Development Officer role.

“The BGA is committed to working with stakeholders to deliver on our mandate to assist the growth, development and sustainability of golf in Bermuda,” said Mr Brown.

“We are so grateful for the support shown by the people of Bermuda this past year to make the second Bermuda Championship a success and help us give back to our community,” said Executive Director Sean Sovacool.

“The hard work of nonprofits like the Bermuda Golf Association show us first-hand the positive impact from funds raised through the tournament. We are proud to play a role in supporting the future of golf for Bermudians and look forward to watching the game grow in the years to come.”

The third playing of the Bermuda Championship is scheduled for October 25 – 31 at Port Royal Golf Course. For the latest Bermuda Championship information, visit www.bermudachampionship.com. General inquiries may be directed to bcinfo@bermudachampionship.com.
