The Ministry of Public Works is informing the motoring public that BELCO will be trenching along Store Hill from North Shore Road to Middle Road.

A Government spokesperson said, “These works will require a full road closure to allow for BELCO’s trench work to be aligned close to the centerline of Store Hill.

“The works will commence Wednesday, July 7th through to Friday, August 27th, 2021. Working hours will be from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm daily.

“Access will be provided to residents and emergency services only. Traffic controls will be under direction of BELCO representatives and will be managed through traffic control signals & signage.

“The motoring public is advised to seek alternative routes via Loyal Hill Pass to the west and Jennings Road to the east to transfer from North South Road to Middle Road.

“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result.

“Should there be any questions regarding the BELCO trench works, please direct them to the attention Jonathan Pedro, Project Manager for BELCO at 295-5111 ext. 1441. Any queries on detour routes should be directed to Tina Beer-Searle, Civil Engineer Highways for Ministry of Public Works at 501-3044.”

It seems the whole island is being dug up, and what makes it worse it is to many of the few remaining roads that have a good surface. The end result is a disgrace and will be like that and worse for years as W&E have no money to resurface 5% of Bermuda’s roads, let alone the 50%+ needed. Harrington Sound is about the worst. Maybe that is why the Min of Tourism doesn’t want tourists to come as the roads are so appalling.
