Ms Smith commented, “I’d like to express my sincere gratitude for being selected as the recipient of the Deloitte Scholarship, and I appreciate your recognition of my efforts. “The scholarship winner was chosen by the Deloitte Scholarship Committee from an impressive group of young candidates. The committee chose Nisha based on her unwavering drive and determination towards reaching her academic ambition of becoming an actuary,” a spokesperson said.

“As I continue my journey, I am not only motivated to make myself and family proud, but my community proud as well. Being a Bermudian is such a privilege as there are many opportunities like this one, available on the Bermuda Scholarships website. I am looking forward to being a part of the exceptional team at Deloitte,” Ms Smith stated.

The successful candidate is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Risk Management & Insurance with a concentration in Actuarial Science at St. John’s University. Having previously received her associate degree in Actuarial Science from the Bermuda College, Nina’s goal is to complete a number of the actuarial exams before achieving her bachelor’s degree.

Her aspiration is to return to Bermuda as a qualified actuary, becoming a role model for other Bermudian students who are interested in exploring this field.

We seek to invest in local talent and hope to play a role in their continued development and career aspirations.
