Pilgrim Competes In USAT Junior Elite Triathlon
Nicholas Pilgrim competed in the Pleasant Prairie USAT Junior Elite Triathlon event in Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin.
Pilgrim finished 20th in a very competitive field of 53 of the top juniors in the North American region.
The sprint distance race saw hot and humid conditions for the athletes. Pilgrim exited the water in the top ten and worked hard on the bike to bring back all but one of the leaders who had, at one point, built up a lead of 45 seconds.
Going into the run with the group of 20 plus athletes, Pilgrim had an impressive first lap of the 2.5 km loop but then faded slightly on the second lap to finish in a group of five all vying for finish position.
Pilgrim competed the race in an overall time of 1:01:17, the race was won by Blake Harris from Canada in a time of 57:48.
