Cycling Race: Temporary Speed Limit Advisory
The Ministry of Public Works is advising of the speed limit that will be in place on Sunday [June 27] for the Bermuda Bicycle Association National Time Trial Championship Bicycle Road Race.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Minister responsible for works and engineering, in exercise of the power conferred by section 7[2A] of the Road Traffic Act 1947, makes the following Order:
- “1. This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic [Bermuda Bicycle Association National Time Trial Championship Bicycle Road Race Variation of Speed Limits] Order 2021.
- “2. This Order applies to the contestants and to the vehicles attendant on the contestants in the Bermuda Bicycle Association National Time Trial Championship Bicycle Road Race on Bermuda Land Development Company Limited roadways in St. George’s Parish to be held on Sunday, 27th June 2021.
- “3. The speed limits fixed by section 7[2][a] of the Road Traffic Act 1947 in respect of the roads outside the municipal area of the Town of St. George specified in the second column of the Schedule [the “relevant roads”] are hereby varied to the extent specified in the first column of the Schedule in respect of the contestants and the vehicles attendant on the contestants in the Bermuda Bicycle Association National Time Trial Championship Bicycle Road Race.
- “4. The relevant roads or parts thereof specified in the second column of the Schedule are hereby declared to be subject, at the times specified in the third column of the Schedule, in respect of the contestants and the vehicles attendant on the contestants in the Bermuda Bicycle Association National Time Trial Championship Bicycle Road Race, to the speed limit specified in the first column thereof.
Schedule
- Speed Limit: 75 kilometres per hour
- Roads: Starting on Clearwater car parking area head northerly along Cooper’s Island Road to the Southside Road roundabout, then continue along Pepper Hall Road and head northerly towards Tommy Fox Road, then turn left and head towards Southside Road, then continue along Southside Road to Lower Gate Road roundabout, then turn right on to Lower Gate Road and head northerly towards St David’s Road, then turn left on St David’s Road and then travel westerly towards the Kindley Field Road roundabout, continue on Kindley Field Road and then continue westerly along The Causeway then travel westerly to Blue Hole Hill roundabout at Wilkinson Avenue junction, then turn right and head easterly towards The Causeway and head easterly to Kindley Field Road roundabout , then head easterly on St David’s Road and then continue heading easterly along St David’s Road until reaching the Texas Road junction, then head south westerly on Taxes Road to Tommy Fox Road, then head westerly on Tommy Fox Road to the junction at Pepper Hall Road then travel southerly direct to the Southside Road roundabout and then continue in a southerly direction along Cooper’s Island Road to the finish line.
