Carey Olsen Bermuda announced the promotion of Henry Tucker to the partnership, and Kyle Masters and Jay Webster to counsel.

A spokesperson said, “”Henry joined Carey Olsen Bermuda in 2017 before relocating to Hong Kong in 2019 to help spearhead the firm’s offering of on-the-ground Bermuda legal advice to Asia clients. Prior to his move to Hong Kong, Henry, who was called to the Bermuda Bar in 2011, regularly represented clients before the Commercial Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal for Bermuda.

“His practice covers all aspects of offshore commercial and trust litigation with a specific focus on arbitration, enforcement and insolvency issues, including out of court administrative and regulatory disputes.

“Kyle, who has been with the firm since 2018, has extensive experience in regulatory and compliance law, internal and external risk mitigation, corporate governance, enforcement actions and business strategy.

“He has appeared as an advocate in the Bermuda Supreme Court and Court of Appeal undertaking a wide variety of commercial and civil litigation, and has particular expertise on regulatory matters including telecommunications and energy law, employment law, and general corporate disputes. His time with the firm has also included a year’s secondment to Hong Kong to help launch the provision of Carey Olsen’s Bermuda legal offering to Asia clients.

“Jay returned to Bermuda to join the firm at the beginning of 2019 after practising in London for more than five years at an international law firm. He specialises in advising multinational companies, partnerships, LLPs and senior executives on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.

“In particular, Jay has significant experience advising clients on executive dismissals, large scale global restructuring and reorganisations, organised labour disputes, business protection issues, data protection issues, sensitive grievance and disciplinary investigations, and providing senior management with strategic HR advice.”

Carey Olsen Bermuda managing partner Michael Hanson said: “It is critical to our talent management strategy to show a clear and considered career path for talented Bermudian lawyers both within and outside Bermuda, and the promotions of Henry, Kyle and Jay are testament to that fact.

“Henry was our first employee back in November 2017, and we are absolutely delighted to see him grow into his role over the past three years and be welcomed into the partnership. Since moving to Hong Kong in 2019 he has played a pivotal role in the expansion of both Carey Olsen Bermuda and the wider Carey Olsen group.

“Similarly, both Jay, who we were able to entice to come back home from London, and Kyle, who we convinced to return to private practice from an in-house role, have played an integral part to the development of the firm locally and our continued and growing reputation. All three are tremendous assets to the firm and very deserving of their promotions.”

Carey Olsen Bermuda, which moved into new offices at the Rosebank Centre in Hamilton earlier this year now has a team of nearly 40 employees. The firm’s Bermuda partner count will become six in August once Steven Rees Davies fulfils his contractual obligations at his current firm.
